WHAT WE DO

Our Mission

FOODiversity’s mission: To lessen the burden of food insecurity for individuals with food allergy, celiac disease and food intolerances.

Why FOODiversity is Needed

Chronic medical conditions place people deeper into food insecurity. Generalized emergency food assistance programs cannot meet the needs of people who have specific food needs.

FOODiversity equips individuals and families with a consistent and reliable source of safe foods. Having the right foods prevents hunger and prevents allergic reactions or intestinal damage. Access to education supports better management of the medical conditions, and prevents medical emergencies and hospitalizations.

HOW WE HELP

FOODiversity connects individuals and families with a consistent and reliable source of safe foods.

Through distribution channels that are already in place in communities – e.g. food pantries, school nurses, physicians – FOODiversity connects individuals and families with proven food resources, educational materials and support. Better management of medical conditions leads to positive health outcomes, improved quality of life and lower healthcare costs.

CURRENT CHALLENGES

  • Customers with a food allergy or celiac disease come away from food pantries, and food box distributions, without food that adheres to their medically-necessary diets.
  • Students at risk of weekend hunger—who get backpacks of food for the weekend—do not have food for dinner during the week.
  • Families with limited access to the internet miss out on support to help them better navigate the journey of these health challenges

FOODiversity’s solutions include:
